A clear indicator of how your body is (or isn’t) balancing hormones well is to take a look at the thyroid.
The thyroid is a butterfly-shaped organ located in the base of the neck that releases hormones that control metabolism. The thyroid’s hormones regulate vital body functions, and too much or too little of the thyroxin hormone can sway overall functionality. Hyperthyroidism is the production of too much thyroxine hormone.
Signs You May Have Hyperthyroidism:
- Your nerves are shot, and you don’t know why.
- Rapid weight gain, or loss; unrelated to recent lifestyle changes.
- You are constantly either too warm, or too cold and cannot seem to adapt to your environment’s temperature like others can.
- Your sleeping habits have gotten unsustainable.
- You don’t seem to be able to have healthy, consistent bowel movements.
If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, be sure to contact your primary care physician right away and request that attention be paid to your thyroid and overall hormonal health.
