Bone broth has been catching a lot of attention lately, and we wanted to join in on the fun. Why is everybody raving about it? And is it healthy for you?

Let’s dive in.

Bone broth – A savory, comforting, healthy treat that not only tastes good but is good for you. According to WebMD, this popular, easy-to-make broth is excellent for weight management, hydration, sleep, and overall nourishment. And according to BBC Good Food, bone broth is an excellent source of amino acids, good for gut health and digestion, supports the immune system, supports the production of anti-aging molecules, and supports joint health. It is also a guilt-free, deliciously satisfying addition to your daily diet that you can enjoy first thing in the morning, before each meal, and even before bed. Bone broth is a fantastic addition to any diet. It is low-calorie, nutrient-dense, and so satisfying and comforting.

Here is our recipe for how to make bone broth – this is a freezer-friendly recipe:

  1. Place 4 turkey drumsticks into a large pot.
  2. Submerge the drumsticks in water until they are covered by 2.5-3″ of water.
  3. Add a bay leaf, a pinch of salt, half an onion, and one medium carrot cubed.
  4. Cover and bring to a simmer on medium heat. Reduce heat to a low/medium and cook for 1 hour.
  5. Remover the onion, carrot, bay leaf, and turkey legs from the water and remove all the meat from the legs leaving just the bones.
  6. Place the bones back into the pot and cook down for 12 hours over low heat.
  7. After 12 hours, set aside as much broth as you’d like to have on hand in a Tupperware dish in the refrigerator, and the rest you can freeze.

Bon appétit!

Be well,
