Oranges are widely known for their benefits in their whole form (orange juice, fresh oranges, orange peel, etc.), but did you know that orange oil; alongside being a pleasant scent for Fall, also has many health benefits?

 

Orange oil:

 

  • Reduces symptoms of stress and anxiety. Aromatherapy with orange oil can reduce pulse rate, pain levels, and more with its calming effects on the brain and body. Studies have shown that women who inhaled orange oil during labor experienced lower levels of stress and anxiety prior to childbirth.

 

  • Helps treat certain skin conditions, such as acne. Because of its antimicrobial properties (or properties that kill or slow the spread of microorganisms like bacteria, viruses, protozoans, and fungi), orange oil can reduce bacteria and inflammation caused by acne. Try mixing two drops of orange essential oil with a teaspoon of aloe vera gel and gently apply a thick layer of the mixture onto the affected areas.

 

  • Relieves an upset stomach. Infusing orange oil with other essential oils and balms and massaging it into your abdominal area can assist with feelings of nausea.

 

Do not ever ingest an essential oil. Instead, diffuse it for inhalation, spray it around you, or massage it into affected areas.
