One of the healthiest things you can do for your body is create routines that create internal rhythms. Routines aren’t meant to sound prescriptive or constraining; they are actually the opposite. Routines help regulate and improve sleep, hormones, weight, neurological function, mood, mental health, energy, elimination pathways, general physical health, organ function, etc.

We talk a lot about daily decisions like food choices, how we deal with stress, and how much exercise we are getting. All of which are very important. But sometimes, we forget that no matter how much you exercise, how healthy you eat, and how well you handle stress, your body won’t function at optimal levels if your daily rhythms are off.

We don’t believe in drastic overnight change, which is why we are only listing two healthy habits you can implement today that will significantly benefit your health:

  1. Eat at the same time every day. This helps bring structure and healthy timing to your digestive and even elimination systems.
  2. Go to bed and wake up at the same time each day. This will regulate your hormones, weight, energy, mood, neurological health and help with elimination too.

If you like spontaneity and these sound too constricting, go on adventures during the day or evening. We most definitely don’t want the word “routines” to sound like you can’t have fun. We recommend having fun! But, if you can find a way to balance your spontaneity with eating and sleeping routines, that would be ideal. And your body will thank you for it.

Try implementing a routine using our tips for seven days, and let us know how you feel. Keep a journal to track your energy, hunger, mood, elimination, and mental clarity. It may be helpful to look back on.

We hope this was helpful.

Be well,

Dr. Horowitz & Staff.
